Celsius Tech Welcomes New LNG Carrier to Its Growing Fleet

Celsius Tech Limited, the Hong Kong-based technical management arm of Danish shipowner Celsius, has recently announced the addition of a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to its fleet. The vessel, named Celsius Galapagos, was built by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and boasts an eco-efficient design.

This new addition marks the 12th LNG vessel in Celsius Tech’s rapidly expanding fleet, showcasing the company’s commitment to growth and sustainability in the maritime industry. In a recent social media post, the company expressed pride in achieving this milestone and highlighted the strength of its team.

“Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the entire CelsiusTech family – including our onboard crew, shore-based staff, and the family members at home who continue to support our seafarers unconditionally. You are the least recognized yet most vital contributors to our industry, and your strength and sacrifice make these milestones possible,” said Celsius Tech.

This latest addition comes on the heels of two other recent vessels joining the fleet. In the past three months, Celsius Galway and Celsius Granada, both 180,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers built by SHI, were welcomed into the fold.

Established in 2019, Celsius Tech is a joint venture between Celsius and Hong Kong-based Fleet Management, specializing in LNG vessel ownership and management. The company’s fleet currently consists of vessels with a 180,000 cbm capacity, with nine more under construction.

According to the company website, three more LNG carriers are being built at Samsung Heavy Industries and six at China Merchants Heavy Industries, further solidifying Celsius Tech’s position as a key player in the LNG shipping industry.
