Kongsberg Maritime Secures Contract for New Offshore Service Vessel

Kongsberg Maritime has recently announced that they have secured a contract for the design and integrated equipment package for a new walk-to-work offshore service vessel (OSV). The vessel will be built by ST Engineering Marine in Singapore for an oil and gas company.

The 97-meter vessel, designed by Kongsberg Maritime UT 5520, will be able to accommodate 106 people and will feature a motion-compensated gangway to facilitate safe transfer of personnel to and from offshore installations.

This new design represents a further development of Kongsberg Maritime’s extensive range of vessel types for the offshore energy market. It builds on the success of the UT5519DE commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) currently deployed on offshore wind projects in the North Sea.

The vessel is specifically designed for oil and gas operations and will have an extended endurance of up to nine weeks away from shore, surpassing the industry standard of four weeks for CSOVs.

Per Kristian Furø, Sales Director – Ship Design at Kongsberg Maritime, expressed his excitement about the partnership with ST Engineering Marine, stating, “Our design teams have leveraged decades of offshore operations experience to create a vessel optimized for long-distance offshore operations, prioritizing efficiency, operational reliability, safety, and crew comfort.”

The new vessel is expected to be completed by the first half of 2027, marking another milestone in Kongsberg Maritime’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for the maritime industry.
