Navantia UK Secures Contract for Subsea Structures Manufacturing in Trinidad and Tobago

Navantia UK, a subsidiary of Spanish shipbuilder Navantia, has recently announced the acquisition of a contract from McDermott Trinidad for the manufacture of subsea structures for a project in Trinidad and Tobago.

The year-long contract will involve the production and delivery of critical subsea components from Navantia UK’s Arnish facility, which is located on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

This agreement signifies a significant milestone for the Arnish facility, further solidifying its reputation in the subsea sector and facilitating continued workforce expansion at the site.

CEO of Navantia UK, Juan de la Cueva, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with McDermott Trinidad, stating, “By securing international work for our Arnish facility, we are not only supporting skilled jobs in the Outer Hebrides but also showcasing Scottish engineering excellence globally. This contract exemplifies the type of high-value manufacturing that we aim to bring to our UK facilities.”

Albert Allan, General Manager of the Arnish facility, emphasized the expertise of the workforce in precision fabrication for the energy sector, highlighting the project’s role in team expansion and reinforcing Arnish’s position as a center of excellence for critical energy infrastructure.

The contract marks a significant development for the Arnish facility, which was recently acquired as part of Navantia UK’s purchase of Harland & Wolff’s four UK yards. It aligns with the company’s strategic vision to establish its Scottish facilities as hubs for energy infrastructure manufacturing.

Overall, this contract represents a notable achievement for Navantia UK and underscores its commitment to delivering high-quality subsea structures for projects worldwide.
