Danish Firm Cadeler Secures Contract for Offshore Wind Vessel Deployment in the United States

Cadeler, a leading offshore wind installation company based in Denmark, has recently inked a solid contract for the deployment of its newest offshore wind vessel, the Wind Pace, at a wind farm located in the United States.

This significant agreement marks the maiden voyage of Cadeler’s second P-Class newbuild vessel, Wind Pace, following its expected delivery later in 2025. The project is set to kick off in the second quarter of 2025, with the Wind Pace committed under this contract until the first quarter of 2026.

The contract’s value to Cadeler is projected to range between $70 million and $79 million, underscoring the company’s stature in the offshore wind installation sector.

Cutting-Edge Vessels for Challenging Environments

In August 2024, Cadeler welcomed the delivery of the P-class jack-up installation vessel, Wind Peak, constructed at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (COSCO) shipyard. Both Wind Peak and Wind Pace are engineered to operate in some of the most demanding locations globally, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

Featuring a deck space of 5,600 m2, a payload exceeding 17,600 tons, and a main crane capacity of over 2,500 tons at 53 meters, these cyber-secure vessels are poised to revolutionize offshore wind installation practices.

The enhanced transit capacity of these vessels will reduce energy consumption during installation, shorten project timelines, and ultimately drive down the overall cost of offshore wind farm installation.

Efficiency and Sustainability at the Forefront

With the capability to transport and install seven complete 15 MW turbine sets per load or five sets of 20+ MW turbines, the Wind Peak and Wind Pace will streamline installation processes, accelerating project timelines and minimizing environmental impact.

By reducing the number of trips required for each project, these cutting-edge vessels will not only expedite installation speed but also significantly decrease the carbon footprint associated with offshore wind farm development.

With their unparalleled capabilities and commitment to sustainability, Cadeler’s Wind Peak and Wind Pace vessels are poised to become game-changers in the offshore wind industry, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and environmental responsibility.
