Sapura Energy Secures Multiple Contracts Worth RM3.2bn

Malaysian offshore services player Sapura Energy has recently announced winning multiple contracts worth RM3.2bn ($723m) for its drilling business.

The company disclosed in a filing with Bursa Malaysia that Sapura Drilling had secured two contracts from PTTEP for the barge-type tender assist drilling rigs, Sapura T-17 and Sapura T-18. These contracts are for a duration of five years with an optional extension of three years.

Furthermore, the drilling unit has also received a contract extension from Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil for the 2011-built tender assist rig Sapura Jaya until November 2025.

Additionally, the 2006-built semisub Sapura Berani has been contracted to ExxonMobil for a period of 30 months, while EnQuest has secured the 2013-built Sapura Esperanza for four development wells offshore Malaysia.

Sapura Drilling, Southeast Asia’s top contractor in this segment by rig count and market share, boasts a fleet of five semi-tender and six tender barge rigs.

With these latest contract wins, including options, the group’s orderbook has been bolstered to RM8.7bn, while the orderbook held by its joint ventures stands at RM5.7bn.

Aside from the drilling contracts, Sapura Energy’s engineering and construction segment has also secured several projects, including a pipeline installation in Brazil and a decommissioning project in Australia.
