Green Marine UK, founded in 2012 in the Scottish Orkney Islands, has made a significant seven-figure capital investment in a new subsea services department targeting the offshore wind sector in the UK.

The expansion, supported by £218,750 financial backing from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), includes the purchase of advanced subsea technology to enhance their services in the offshore wind industry. This investment marks a strategic move for Green Marine UK to diversify and meet the growing demands of the sector.

“Green Marine has built a strong track record over many years with particular success in the offshore wind sector. The unique skills and experience we’ve developed during this period have put us in prime position to diversify in line with growing industry demand,” said Green Marine Managing Director Jason Schofield.

The newly established subsea services department, scheduled to launch in late spring, will offer a range of in-house turnkey solutions and data services tailored for offshore wind projects. These services will include general visual inspection, 3D survey with real-time SLAM analysis, marine site characterisation, multibeam surveys, and operations & maintenance monitoring focusing on subsea cables, pipelines, and offshore structures.

“By investing in cutting-edge technology and building a dedicated team, Green Marine aims to provide seamless and efficient solutions for our clients in the offshore wind sector. Our strategic location in Orkney, with access to a significant offshore wind capacity, positions us for substantial growth and long-term success,” added Schofield.

“This move not only strengthens our capabilities but also streamlines the process for our clients. By offering a comprehensive service package and leveraging AI technologies, we can ensure rapid mobilisation and reliable data collection for offshore wind projects,” said Green Marine Operations & Technology Director Myles Metson.
