Completion of Second Offshore Substation for Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan

Consortium partners Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C have successfully completed the load-out and sail-away of the second and final offshore substation for the Hai Long Offshore wind project in Taiwan. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the development of renewable energy infrastructure in the region.

The second substation for the Hai Long 3 offshore wind farm was loaded out and sailed away on March 8, 2025, following the delivery of the first substation for Hai Long 2 almost a year earlier. The Hai Long project, which exceeds 1 GW in capacity, comprises Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 wind farms located in the Taiwan Strait, 45-70 kilometers off the coast. The project is a joint effort by Mitsui & Co, Northland Power, and Gentari.

The consortium was responsible for the detailed design, procurement, and construction of the two offshore substations at PTSC M&C’s yard in Vung Tau City, Southern Vietnam. The Hai Long 3 offshore substation is expected to be installed and prepared for offshore commissioning by the second quarter of 2025, further advancing the project towards completion.

Frank Holm, Senior Vice President Renewables at Semco Maritime, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration on the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project, highlighting the strong team performance and promising future prospects for the project. PTSC M&C’s Managing Director, To Ngoc Tu, emphasized the commitment and expertise of the consortium in delivering premier renewable energy services and advancing the offshore wind energy sector.
