TMC Compressors Secures Contract for Marine Compressed Air System for FLNG Unit

TMC Compressors (TMC) has recently announced that they have secured a contract to deliver a large capacity marine compressed air system for the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit being constructed by Wison New Energies for Genting, a Malaysia-based company.

Acting as a subcontractor to Jereh Offshore, a China-based engineering technology and service company, TMC will be responsible for delivering a marine compressed air system that includes six compressors for control air, instrument air, N2 feed air, and utility purposes. While the exact value of the contract remains undisclosed, TMC is committed to providing a reliable, energy-efficient system with low operating expenses.

Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development, emphasized the importance of meeting the substantial compressed air capacity requirements of the FLNG facility, which is projected to have a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per annum.

Wison New Energies, based in China, will oversee the construction of the FLNG facility at its shipyards in Nantong and ZhouShan, as part of a billion-dollar deal signed with Genting in 2024. Once the yard performance test is successfully completed, the FLNG unit will be transported to Teluk Bintuni, West Papua, Indonesia, for final commissioning.

The feed gas for the FLNG facility will be sourced from the Asap, Merah, and Kido structures within the Kasuri Block in West Papua, Indonesia, under the concession area awarded to Genting Oil Kasuri (GOKPL), a 95% indirect subsidiary of Genting.
