Danish Wave Energy Firm Wavepiston Secures €900,000 Investment

Danish wave energy firm Wavepiston has recently announced the successful securing of a €900,000 investment from two professional investors through The Blue Line, a Dutch joint venture company.

The Blue Line, supported by Connect the Drops and Unknown Group, is dedicated to investments in the water and energy sectors respectively. This funding will be utilized for technological advancements, system validation, and strategic partnerships to expedite market entry.

“Innovation and sustainability go hand in hand,” stated Jan Otto Ooms, Founder of Connect the Drops. He further added, “By harnessing wave energy to produce clean drinking water, we take a significant step toward a future where renewable energy and water security come together.”

The investment round was facilitated by Ronald Beuk and Generous Minds, with Beuk expressing his enthusiasm about Wavepiston’s potential impact in the wave energy sector.

Wave Energy in Barbados Project

Wavepiston recently concluded its Wave Energy in Barbados (WEB) project in December 2024, following a successful six-month pre-feasibility study conducted in collaboration with Export Barbados (BIDC), an agency of the Barbados Government. This collaboration has paved the way for exploring the deployment of wave energy farms offshore Barbados.

With a strong focus on sustainability and clean energy solutions, Wavepiston continues to make significant strides in the wave energy sector, positioning itself as a key player in the global renewable energy landscape.
