Greek Shipping Company Thenamaris Unveils Fourth Aframax Product Tanker from SWS
Thenamaris, a leading Greek shipping company, has recently revealed its latest addition to the fleet – the fourth 114,000 dwt Aframax product tanker built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a prominent Chinese shipbuilder under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The newly named vessel, Seadancer, boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 249.95 meters in length and 44 meters in width. Scheduled for delivery in September 2025, Seadancer is part of the latest generation of Aframax tankers developed and designed independently by SWS.
Equipped with scrubbers and featuring advanced technological enhancements, including energy-saving ducts, an optimized main engine, hydrodynamic performance optimization, and vortex fins, Seadancer is designed to enhance fuel efficiency by reducing resistance and optimizing water flow around the hull and propeller.
Thanks to these energy-efficient measures, Seadancer already complies with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Phase 3 requirements for 2025, showcasing Thenamaris’ commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Continued Collaboration Between Thenamaris and SWS
Seadancer is not the first collaboration between Thenamaris and SWS. Earlier this year, SWS delivered two Aframax tankers to Thenamaris, further solidifying their partnership.
In January, SWS welcomed the 114,000 dwt LR2 tanker Seascout, a 250-meter-long vessel that is also NOx III-compliant and aligns with the third phase of EEDI regulations, demonstrating SWS’s dedication to meeting and exceeding industry standards.
Following the success of Seascout, SWS introduced another newbuild product tanker named Isabella on February 24, 2025. This Malta-flagged tanker, measuring 250 meters in length with a beam of 44 meters, features a cargo tank capacity estimated at 130,000 cubic meters, catering to the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
With the addition of Seadancer to its fleet, Thenamaris continues to innovate and expand its operations, showcasing a strong commitment to technological advancements, environmental sustainability, and operational excellence in the shipping industry.
