Norwegian Argeo Completes Deepwater Work at TotalEnergies’ Venus Project

Norwegian offshore services company Argeo has successfully completed deepwater work at TotalEnergies’ Venus project, located offshore Namibia. However, the project took longer than initially anticipated.

Argeo deployed its Argeo Venture vessel for the operation, which is currently undergoing demobilization in Walvis Bay and is expected to be finalized by March 23, 2025.

The deepwater project was part of a $39 million contract that Argeo secured with TotalEnergies in April 2024. The Argeo Venture vessel commenced operations in Namibia on May 20, 2024, following its transit from Norway.

Despite initial estimates, the project experienced delays due to an extended yard-stay and unfavorable weather conditions. In total, the Argeo Venture spent nearly 10 months on the project, acquiring over 7000-line km of AUV geophysical data and collecting close to 200 geotechnical samples in water depths exceeding 3000 meters.

Argeo expressed satisfaction with the project outcomes, stating, “The contract and work program reaffirm our capability to deliver top-tier deep-water services and demonstrated our ability to execute integrated geophysical and geotechnical projects efficiently.”

Furthermore, in December 2024, Argeo inked a five-year frame agreement with TotalEnergies for offshore site investigation services, with the potential for a two-year extension.
