Aberdeen-based Amplus Energy Partners with V.Ships Offshore for FPSO Acquisition

Aberdeen-based Amplus Energy has selected V.Ships Offshore, a division of V. Group, to manage the ownership transfer of the FPSO Petrojarl I, a 39-year-old floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. The acquisition of the FPSO from Altera Infrastructure represents a significant milestone for Amplus Energy as it expands its presence in the offshore energy market.

Amplus Energy’s decision to partner with V.Ships Offshore was the result of a rigorous selection process aimed at ensuring a seamless transition of ownership, shipyard oversight, and operational support. The company views the acquisition as a strategic move that will enhance its ability to provide flexible solutions tailored to the evolving needs of offshore oil fields.

According to Steve Gardyne, Managing Director of Amplus Energy, the collaboration with V.Ships aligns with the company’s goals of safety, operational excellence, and cost efficiency. The acquisition of the FPSO Petrojarl I underscores the industry’s demand for innovative and cost-effective production solutions.

The partnership between Amplus Energy and V.Ships Offshore aims to maximize the potential of the FPSO Petrojarl I and strengthen Amplus Energy’s position in the offshore sector.

Gerben Nijboer, Managing Director of V.Ships Offshore, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting their commitment to safety, operational excellence, and cost-efficient solutions for the offshore industry. The partnership is expected to drive greater market impact and operational scalability for both companies.

Amplus Energy believes that the FPSO Petrojarl I is well-suited for cost-efficient production operations in regions such as Vietnam, Suriname, Brazil, and West Africa. The company’s strategic plans for further vessel ownership aim to solidify its position as a preferred redeployment vessel contractor.
