Prysmian, Relativity Networks to Produce Next-Gen Cables for Data Centers

Prysmian Partners with Relativity Networks for Next-Generation Fiber-Optic Technology

Prysmian, a global leader in fiber optics, has announced a strategic partnership with Relativity Networks, a provider of cutting-edge hollow-core optical fiber technology. This collaboration aims to meet the increasing demand for advanced fiber-optic solutions in data centers essential for the AI economy.

Relativity Networks has developed a patent-pending hollow-core fiber (HCF) technology in collaboration with the College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida. By joining forces with Prysmian, the companies will co-manufacture fiber and cable based on this innovative technology, leveraging Prysmian’s extensive manufacturing expertise.

The partnership will facilitate a smooth transition to hollow-core fiber technology, addressing the growing needs of data centers worldwide. Additionally, Relativity Networks will provide connectors and hardware to ensure compatibility with existing fiber-optic interfaces.

Frederick Persson, Prysmian’s Executive Vice President of Digital Solutions, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “Prysmian has a long-standing reputation for excellence in fiber optics, and our solutions continue to evolve to meet customer demands. By combining our expertise with Relativity Networks’ technology, we aim to lead the global market for hollow-core fiber, supporting the rapid growth of data centers and AI applications.”

This collaboration signifies a significant step towards advancing fiber-optic technology and meeting the evolving needs of the digital economy. As data centers play a crucial role in powering AI applications and other emerging technologies, the partnership between Prysmian and Relativity Networks is poised to drive innovation and efficiency in the industry.
