L&T Hydrocarbon Arm Secures Mega Contract for QatarEnergy LNG Project

The hydrocarbon arm of Indian engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has recently announced a major milestone in its history with the award of a significant contract for the QatarEnergy LNG’s North Field production sustainability offshore compression project.

Described as the largest single contract ever received by the company, the scope of work for this project includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of two offshore compression complexes. These complexes will consist of large offshore platforms with compression and power generation facilities, living quarters, flare platforms, interconnected bridges, and other associated structures, all to be situated approximately 80 km off the northeast coast of Qatar.

While full financial details were not disclosed, the contract has been classified as an “ultra mega” order, a designation reserved for contracts valued above ₹15,000 crore ($1.75bn).

Commenting on this landmark achievement, S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, stated, “Securing QatarEnergy LNG’s ultra mega offshore contract, the largest single order in our history, is a landmark achievement. This prestigious project strengthens our global energy portfolio while supporting Qatar’s energy security objectives.”

This significant project not only showcases L&T’s capabilities in the energy sector but also highlights the company’s commitment to delivering world-class solutions on a global scale.
