Crane Specialist Liebherr Supplies Offshore Cranes for Agogo FPSO in Angola

Liebherr, a renowned crane specialist, has provided two offshore cranes to Yinson Production to support the operations of the Agogo floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) at Azule Energy’s field offshore Angola.

The two offshore cranes, RL 2600 (Ram Luffing 2600) and RL-K 2600 (Ram Luffing knuckle boom 2600), have been acquired by Yinson Production, responsible for the provision, operation, and maintenance of the Agogo FPSO. These cranes boast a maximum lifting capacity of up to 30 tonnes and a maximum boom outreach of over 30 meters each, enabling them to facilitate maintenance and component replacement on the FPSO.

Once operational, Liebherr Portugal will take on the maintenance and servicing of the equipment, ensuring seamless operations on the FPSO.

In a grand naming and sail away ceremony held at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Shanghai) shipyard in February, Yinson Production officially christened the Agogo FPSO.

Long-Standing Cooperation

Oliver Odebrecht, Sales Manager General Purpose Offshore Cranes at Liebherr in Rostock, expressed delight at being chosen as the supplier of the main cranes for the Agogo FPSO in Angolan waters. He emphasized the advanced features and compact design of the RL 2600 and RL-K 2600 cranes, highlighting their value as assets for offshore operations.

The FPSO will be deployed in the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development Project in Block 15/06 offshore Angola for Azule Energy, a joint venture between BP and Eni, under a 15-year firm charter. With a production capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil per day, the FPSO is poised to play a pivotal role in the region’s oil production.

Overall, Liebherr’s provision of state-of-the-art offshore cranes for the Agogo FPSO underscores its commitment to delivering efficient and reliable solutions for the offshore industry, further solidifying its position as a leading crane supplier in the sector.
