Introducing the Boxfish AUV: A Game-Changer in Underwater Exploration

Boxfish Robotics has unveiled its latest innovation in underwater technology – the Boxfish AUV (Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). This cutting-edge autonomous vehicle is set to revolutionize underwater exploration with its advanced features and unparalleled capabilities.

Advanced Autonomy Software

The Boxfish AUV is powered by Boxfish’s proprietary autonomy software, which enables it to operate with precision and efficiency. The SafePath Planner, a graphical user interface, allows for customization and seamless navigation through complex underwater environments. Users can monitor missions in real-time and intervene if necessary, ensuring optimal performance.

Versatile Applications

Designed for a variety of underwater tasks, the Boxfish AUV supports benthic photogrammetry work, seabed mapping, coral reef monitoring, fish studies, and more. Operating without a tether at depths of up to 600 meters (with plans to reach 1000 meters in the future), this AUV is equipped with sensors for water quality measurement and high-quality video capture, including stereo cameras for fish census surveys.

Unique Design and Maneuverability

Unlike traditional torpedo-shaped autonomous vehicles, the Boxfish AUV boasts a unique design that enhances its agility and maneuverability. This allows it to perform tasks such as seabed mapping, inspection, and data collection with precision and effectiveness. Its versatility makes it an indispensable tool for scientists, researchers, and industry professionals.

Enhanced Safety Features

In addition to its advanced capabilities, the Boxfish AUV features a Return to Surface function and the Boxfish Satellite Tracker for added safety and security. These features ensure the AUV’s location can be easily tracked and recovered in the event of loss or malfunction.
