Introducing Leidos’ Sea Dart: A Versatile Uncrewed Undersea Vessel
Leidos has unveiled its latest innovation in maritime technology – Sea Dart, a high-performance, low-cost, flexible, and adaptable uncrewed undersea vessel (UUV) designed to cater to the needs of the U.S. Navy and commercial customers across a wide range of missions.
Key Features of Sea Dart
Sea Dart is currently available in two standard diameters – six and nine inches, making it easily transportable by one or two individuals. It is designed to be payload agnostic, ensuring compatibility with the U.S. Navy’s preferred Underwater Vehicle software architecture and the new non-propagating UUV battery design.
According to Leidos, the high performance and affordability of Sea Dart make it an ideal choice for missions in challenging and high-risk environments. Additionally, its versatility also makes it suitable for scientific and research applications where cost-effectiveness is crucial.
Mission Capabilities
Sea Dart UUV can be utilized in a variety of missions including counter-mine operations, underwater surveys, undersea infrastructure monitoring, battlespace preparation, environmental sensing, and more. Its ability to operate at tactically relevant speeds and depths for extended periods while providing ample payload power allows for rapid deployment and mission flexibility.
Leidos is also considering the development of a larger 12.75-inch diameter version of Sea Dart, further expanding its capabilities and application possibilities.
