Revolutionizing the LNG Industry: Honeywell and Argent LNG Collaborate on Innovative Pretreatment Solutions

U.S.-based technology firm Honeywell and compatriot Argent LNG have joined forces to revolutionize the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. The two companies recently signed an agreement to explore the use of Honeywell’s cutting-edge pretreatment solutions at a future LNG export terminal planned by Argent LNG in Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

Honeywell, a leader in LNG technologies, offers a range of solutions including pretreatment and liquefaction technologies, as well as automation and software technologies to optimize the overall LNG process. Honeywell’s LNG pretreatment solutions are designed to eliminate contaminants from natural gas, allowing facility operators to enhance production and operational efficiency.

The company’s modular mercury removal unit (MRU), acid gas removal unit (AGRU), and SeparSIV unit work together to remove mercury, carbon dioxide, sulfur, water, and heavy hydrocarbons, ensuring compliance with LNG specifications.

“Honeywell’s innovative LNG technologies will be instrumental in enhancing energy security by facilitating large-scale LNG production globally, including in the United States,” emphasized Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP. “Our comprehensive LNG portfolio offers customizable solutions to meet the diverse needs of our customers.”

Argent LNG, committed to delivering clean, secure, and cost-effective energy worldwide, sees the collaboration with Honeywell as a strategic move to transform the U.S. LNG sector and meet the increasing global demand for natural gas.

“Argent LNG is dedicated to leveraging innovative technology and effective pretreatment solutions to drive the LNG industry forward,” stated Jonathan Bass, CEO of Argent LNG. “Honeywell’s proven technology has the potential to revolutionize the U.S. LNG sector and meet the global demand for LNG.”

Meeting Global Demand with State-of-the-Art Facilities

The Shell LNG Outlook 2025 predicts a 60% surge in global LNG demand by 2040, prompting Argent LNG to strategically position its future facility in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. The planned LNG export terminal aims to produce 12 million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG, with plans for expansion up to 25 mtpa in Phase 2, making it one of the largest LNG export terminals globally.

Argent LNG’s strategic location near major pipeline networks in Port Fourchon will facilitate the export of LNG to regions worldwide, including Asia, Europe, South America, and the Middle East.

In preparation for its ambitious project, Argent LNG has partnered with industry leaders such as Baker Hughes, who will provide liquefaction solutions, power generation equipment, and gas compression systems for the facility. Additionally, the company has signed a heads of agreement with the Government of Bangladesh for the purchase of up to 5 mtpa of LNG from the plant.

The collaboration between Honeywell and Argent LNG signifies a significant step towards enhancing global energy security and establishing the United States as a key player in the LNG industry. With innovative technologies and state-of-the-art facilities, the partnership aims to meet the growing demand for LNG and shape the future of energy production worldwide.
