Norwegian Vessel Olympic Zeus Secures Contract with Chevron
Norwegian offshore vessel owner Olympic has secured a contract for one of its anchor handling vessels with US supermajor Chevron.
The US company has enlisted the Olympic Zeus anchor handler and offshore construction vessel for operations on the Agbami FPSO off the coast of Nigeria.
According to a Breamar report, the vessel has been contracted for an initial period of two months, with potential extension options included. Prior to this contract, the vessel was operating in the spot market with Aker BP.
Chevron, with a 67.3% stake, is the operator of the $3.5 billion Nigerian project. Equinor and Petrobras hold the remaining working interests in the venture.
The FPSO was constructed by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in a deal worth $1.2 billion. It boasts a storage capacity of 2.2 million barrels of crude oil.
Having commenced operations at the site in late 2007, the FPSO has the capability to handle 250,000 barrels per day, along with 450 million cubic feet of gas production and 450,000 barrels of injected water daily. The vessel is expected to remain stationed at the location for over two decades.
