GLO Marine and VMS Group Collaborate on Multi-Vessel Retrofit for Tidewater

GLO Marine and VMS Group Denmark have recently announced a significant milestone in their partnership by securing a multi-vessel retrofit project for offshore support vessel operator Tidewater. This collaborative effort further solidifies their presence in the offshore energy sector.

The retrofit program covers 16 vessels spread across three continents, with a particular focus on vessels operating in U.S. waters. This initiative marks a crucial step in both companies’ strategic objectives to offer fleet-scale retrofit solutions to the global offshore vessels market.

As part of the project, GLO Marine and VMS Group are overseeing the complete BWTS retrofit and lifecycle project management for Tidewater. Since commencing in December 2024, the teams have successfully delivered 16 BWTS systems, surveyed 14 vessels, provided 12 engineering packages approved by class, completed prefabrication and materials procurement for five vessels, and retrofitted and commissioned two vessels. The project has engaged over 50 professionals across the U.S., Africa, and Europe.

Utilizing a fully integrated EPCI model, GLO Marine is responsible for managing engineering, prefabrication, logistics, and installation. This streamlined approach ensures efficient project execution and provides Tidewater with a single point of contact throughout the retrofit process.

Alin Pohilca, Operations Director at GLO Marine, highlighted the success of the multi-vessel program, stating, “By approaching this as a multi-vessel program rather than managing each vessel individually, we have successfully reduced engineering hours by 25% and materials and logistics costs by 15% per vessel. Our plug-and-play system accelerates retrofit execution, ensuring cost reductions without compromising quality.”

GLO Marine and VMS Group bring together extensive engineering expertise, project control capabilities, and global delivery capacity to meet the increasing demand for efficient upgrades in the industry. Palle Andersen, Engineering Manager at VMS Group, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing complex challenges in the offshore energy sector.

“In today’s offshore energy landscape, collaboration is key. Strategic partnerships like ours enable cross-border teamwork and a shared vision, delivering scalable, efficient, and future-ready solutions,” Andersen remarked.

The joint effort between GLO Marine and VMS Group underscores their commitment to innovation and excellence in providing comprehensive retrofit solutions for offshore support vessels, further solidifying their position as leaders in the industry.
