PD Ports Announces Plans for Teesport Offshore Gateway

PD Ports has unveiled ambitious plans for the development of the Teesport Offshore Gateway, set to become one of the UK’s largest offshore wind manufacturing and installation hubs. The project, estimated at £200 million, aims to support the government’s offshore wind development goals and boost the country’s energy independence.

The Teesport Offshore Gateway will span 180 acres and will serve as a comprehensive offshore manufacturing center, offering assembly, marshalling, and supply chain support services. The development is strategically positioned to advance the UK’s Net Zero initiatives and contribute to achieving energy sustainability.

One of the key features of the project is a kilometer-long deep-water riverside quay that will provide unrestricted access to the North Sea for both floating and fixed-bottom offshore wind projects. The facility will also include a 15.5m deep-water mooring capable of accommodating all current and planned offshore installation vessels globally.

“Teesport and the River Tees provide the ideal setting for what we believe will be one of the largest offshore wind manufacturing and assembly hubs on the east coast of the UK, offering unparalleled access to the North Sea,” said Frans Calje, CEO of PD Ports.

While still in the early planning stages, the Teesport Offshore Gateway project has already secured planning and marine consent, pending some amendments. PD Ports is actively seeking engagement with the offshore renewables sector, including OEMs, developers, and industry experts, to further refine the project’s strategic direction.
