Ang Wee Keong to Become Chief Executive of Maritime and Port Authority

Ang Wee Keong, the current Assistant Chief Executive (International) of the Info-Communications Media Development Authority (IMDA), is set to take on the role of Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) starting June 16.

During his tenure at IMDA, Ang has played a pivotal role in advancing Singapore’s digital interests on the global stage. He has been instrumental in strengthening Singapore’s network of digital economy partnerships and fostering collaboration through initiatives such as the ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting and Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG). Additionally, Ang has been at the forefront of developing forward-thinking policies and regulations in digital technology to drive the growth of Singapore’s digital economy, including the upcoming Digital Infrastructure Act aimed at enhancing the resilience and security of critical digital infrastructure.

Ang will be succeeding Teo Eng Dih, who is set to take on the role of Deputy Secretary (Special Duties) at the Ministry of Transport.

Teo Eng Dih, during his tenure as Chief Executive of the MPA, has made significant contributions to the growth of Singapore’s International Maritime Centre and the PIER71TM startup ecosystem. Under his leadership, the Port of Singapore achieved new milestones in vessel arrivals, container throughput, bunker sales, and ship registrations. These achievements were realized amidst a challenging global operating environment characterized by geopolitical uncertainties, supply chain disruptions, and technological shifts impacting global trade flows.

Ang Wee Keong’s appointment as Chief Executive of the MPA signifies a new chapter in Singapore’s maritime industry, with his wealth of experience in driving digital transformation and international partnerships expected to bring fresh perspectives and initiatives to further enhance Singapore’s position as a leading maritime hub.
