Allseas Orders Two Offshore Construction Vessels from Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group

Swiss-based marine construction specialist Allseas has recently announced the order of two offshore construction vessels from Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group in China. These vessels, based on the SALT 308 OCV design, are set to revolutionize the offshore construction industry with their advanced equipment and systems that promise enhanced performance, flexibility, and functionality.

Measuring 100 metres in length, each vessel will feature a spacious 1,100 sq m cargo deck and have the capacity to accommodate up to 110 personnel. Equipped with a DP2 dynamic positioning system, a 150-tonne active heave-compensated offshore crane, hangar housing two work-class ROVs, a hybrid 1,500-kWh battery energy storage system, and a methanol-ready propulsion design, these vessels are designed to meet the evolving demands of the offshore market.

The first vessel is expected to be delivered in September 2026, with the second vessel following in December 2026. Dries van Strijp, Allseas’ vice president of operations, expressed his confidence in the decision to invest in these state-of-the-art vessels, stating, “After carefully exploring all available options, it became clear that securing two next-generation newbuilds – fully optimised with the latest technology – was the best long-term solution to strengthen our capabilities and capture new opportunities in a growing offshore market.”
