Silverback Marine Partners with PETESTEP to Develop High-Performance Law Enforcement Boat

Silverback Marine has recently announced its partnership with Sweden-based company PETESTEP to collaborate on the development of a cutting-edge high-performance law enforcement boat for the New Mexico State Parks Rangers. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the patrol craft industry with innovative technology and design.

PETESTEP Technology

The patented PETESTEP technology sets itself apart from traditional stepped hulls by utilizing angled deflectors instead of steps. These deflectors harness the spray energy generated by the hull when in motion, resulting in a significant reduction in G force (slamming) of up to 50%, with an average overall reduction of 30%. This leads to enhanced ride comfort, reduced operator fatigue, and improved speed and fuel efficiency by 35%.

Customized Design

The Silverback Marine design team conducted extensive research by consulting with marine law enforcement captains and officers to gather insights on layout preferences and common complaints with existing patrol craft. As a result, the new vessel features an 18” wide bow door for easy landing, non-marking full perimeter fendering, generous shelter, SHOXS suspension seating, dual weapon lockers, and WHELEN lighting and siren systems. These features address operator fatigue and provide ease of access for beaching.

Performance and Versatility

With a top speed exceeding 60 mph, the 21’ law enforcement boat is designed to be versatile, nimble, and capable of navigating various sea conditions, including rivers, lakes, bays, and moderate offshore waters. It offers a high level of performance while ensuring the safety and comfort of the operators.

Delivery Timeline

The construction of the first vessel has already commenced, and delivery is scheduled for late summer 2025. The collaboration between Silverback Marine and PETESTEP represents a significant advancement in the field of patrol craft, setting a new standard for efficiency, comfort, and performance.
