Norway’s Soiltech Secures Major Contracts for Drilling Waste Management

Norway-based cleantech service provider Soiltech has recently announced significant contract wins with OMV Norge and Northern Ocean Wind for drilling waste management on the semi-submersible rig, Deepsea Bollsta, operated by Odfjell Drilling.

The contracts, scheduled to commence in Q2 2025 and last between 45 and 105 days, are valued above NOK 20 million, showcasing the scale of these deals for Soiltech.

Deepsea Bollsta: A Versatile Rig

The Deepsea Bollsta, a sixth-generation semi-submersible rig built in 2020, is capable of accommodating 140 personnel and operating in diverse environments at depths of up to 3,000 meters.

With OMV Norge recently securing drilling permits for exploration wells in the Norwegian Sea, the Deepsea Bollsta rig is set to play a pivotal role in these upcoming operations scheduled for May 2025.

Soiltech’s Tailored Solutions

Soiltech’s scope of work on Deepsea Bollsta includes solid waste handling, fluid processing, and onshore drilling waste management. The company’s SmartTransfer system enables customized solutions for cuttings containment and transfer, enhancing operational efficiency.

In addition to the contracts with OMV Norge and Northern Ocean, Soiltech has also secured a long-term agreement with Equinor for waste management on the same rig, further solidifying its position in the industry.

Expanding Footprint

Soiltech’s success extends beyond Norway, with a recent five-year contract from OMV Petrom for drill cuttings handling on the Transocean Barents rig in Romania’s Black Sea. The rig is currently engaged in drilling operations for the Neptun Deep project.
