CPN Achieves Record-Breaking B24 Marine Biofuel Bunkering Operation in Hong Kong

Hong Kong-based bunker supplier Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-Chemical (CPN) has reached a significant milestone by successfully completing China’s largest B24 marine biofuel bunkering operation.

The ‘record-breaking’ achievement occurred on May 15 in Hong Kong, with CPN delivering 6,300 MT of B24 very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to the containership XIN Los Angeles. This surpasses CPN’s previous record of 5,500 MT delivered to the same vessel in February 2025.

In 2024, CPN supplied over 44,000 metric tons of biofuels in Hong Kong, capturing more than a 96% market share. The company has been actively promoting the use of sustainable marine biofuels in the region.

Expanding Partnerships and Sustainable Initiatives

At the beginning of 2025, CPN delivered ISCC-EU-certified B24 marine biofuel to Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Solstice cruise ship in Hong Kong. This marked another step towards promoting green marine fuels in the industry.

CPN has also collaborated with various shipping companies to advance sustainable practices. They provided biofuel to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) for its first biofuel bunkering operation in Hong Kong. Additionally, CPN partnered with Swire Shipping for a sustainable B24 biofuel trial on Swire’s transpacific service, demonstrating their commitment to environmentally friendly solutions.

Furthermore, CPN has joined forces with Hong Kong and China Gas Company (Towngas) to develop green methanol marine fuel markets domestically and internationally. This partnership aims to position Hong Kong as a leading hub for green marine fuel initiatives.

Driving Innovation and Environmental Responsibility

CPN’s dedication to advancing sustainable practices in the maritime industry is evident through their continuous efforts to provide biofuels and promote eco-friendly solutions. By achieving record-breaking biofuel bunkering operations and forming strategic partnerships, CPN is driving innovation and environmental responsibility in Hong Kong and beyond.
