Geoquip Marine Completes Geotechnical Site Investigation for 4 GW Offshore Wind Projects in German North Sea

Geoquip Marine, a UK-based company, recently finished a preliminary geotechnical site investigation for two 4 GW offshore wind projects in the German North Sea. The company drilled 28 boreholes across the project sites to analyze the subsea terrain for wind turbine foundations under the contract.

The geotechnical investigation included thorough soil sampling and seismic site monitoring to provide valuable data for the engineering parameters of both projects in depths of 40 meters. Geoquip utilized the Dina Polaris vessel, which is equipped with geotechnical drilling, sampling, and testing equipment, along with an offshore laboratory to gather accurate, real-time seabed data and identify challenging site conditions safely and efficiently.

With Germany aiming to install at least 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, these projects play a crucial role in supporting the country in achieving its renewable energy goals, stated Geoquip Marine.

Adding to its recent achievements, Geoquip Marine was also awarded a contract last month to conduct the main geotechnical investigation for Luxcara’s Waterekke offshore wind farm in Germany.
