FLANQ Unveils Q-RECON: A Cutting-Edge Uncrewed Surface Vessel for Maritime Defense

FLANQ, a leading maritime defense solutions provider based in Germany, has officially launched Q-RECON, a state-of-the-art European designed and built uncrewed surface vessel (USV) tailored for operations in the littoral domain.

Developed to meet the urgent operational requirements of a European customer, Q-RECON is a compact and lightweight USV measuring two meters in length, designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and tactical interdiction missions.

Equipped with a 30 kg internal payload bay, Q-RECON can accommodate a variety of sensors, including 360° night vision and multi-spectral cameras, making it ideal for covert monitoring, infrastructure inspections, and beach landing surveys. Its versatility and reliability make it a valuable asset for naval special forces across a wide range of mission scenarios, including single-use operations.

Powered by dual FLANQ-designed vectored jet drives, Q-RECON boasts agile maneuverability and can reach burst speeds of up to 30 knots. Its advanced navigational suite includes onboard autopilot, GPS, IMU, and optional dead-reckoning capability, enabling operations in GNSS-denied environments.

At the heart of Q-RECON’s mission flexibility is FLANQ’s proprietary Q-KONTROL and Q-MIND hardware and software stack, allowing for simplified in-theatre payload reconfiguration and autonomous route planning. This capability is crucial for real-time adaptation during dynamic operations.

FLANQ will be showcasing Q-RECON for the first time at the Combined Naval Event in Farnborough, UK next week. Attendees can visit FLANQ’s stand, F24, to witness this cutting-edge USV in person.
