Kongsberg Discovery Launches Innovative FS80 Trawl Sonar

Kongsberg Discovery has announced the commercial launch of the FS80 Trawl Sonar, a groundbreaking new technology in the world of fisheries monitoring.

The FS80 is a compact, modular, and multifrequency sonar system that is revolutionizing the way fishery operators track and monitor their nets. It is the first sonar system on the market to combine net monitoring, intake profiling, and bottom detection all in a single unit, providing fishery operators with a comprehensive solution for their monitoring needs.

Originally unveiled at the Pacific Marine Expo (PME) in November last year, the FS80 has undergone extensive sea trials with exceptional results. Building on the success of its predecessor, the FS70, which has been a trusted market leader for over two decades, the FS80 offers upgraded performance and integration capabilities.

One of the key features of the FS80 is its support for a wide range of telemetry cables, making it easy for customers with varying needs to adopt the technology. Additionally, the FS80 is designed to be modular, allowing for easy integration with other Kongsberg Discovery components such as cameras, lamps, and acoustic modems for door control.

According to Mads Dahl, Vice President of Sales at Kongsberg Discovery, the company is also set to launch the FH80 HUB, a central platform that will serve as a base for modular components like the FS80. This modular approach allows customers to customize their trawling systems with the latest Kongsberg Discovery technologies, creating a unified and high-performance solution tailored to their specific needs.
