Empresa Construtora do Brasil Wins €250 Million Contract with Petrobras

Empresa Construtora do Brasil, an affiliate of Portugal’s engineering group Mota-Engil, has secured a maintenance and construction contract with Brazilian state-owned energy giant Petrobras. The contract, valued at around 1.61 billion Brazilian reais, is set to last 48 months, strengthening Mota-Engil’s presence in Brazil.

The scope of the contract includes maintenance, construction, and assembly services on offshore oil platforms. This involves piping installation, metal structure manufacturing and installation, boiler making, scaffolding assembly, painting, and electrical maintenance and automation.

Petrobras has not only been awarding engineering contracts but has also been active in exploration and production developments. Recently, the company commenced production from the FPSO vessel Alexandre de Gusmão in the Mero field in Brazil’s Santos Basin.

Chartered from SBM Offshore under a long-term contract, the vessel joins four other FPSOs in the field: Pioneiro de Libra, Guanabara, Sepetiba, and Marechal Duque de Caxias. Petrobras also made a significant discovery in the Aram block, finding high-quality oil with no contaminants in the 3-BRSA-1396D-SPS exploratory well.
