Finnøy Gear & Propeller Signs Contract for Complete Propulsion Systems for New Cargo Vessels

Finnøy Gear & Propeller has recently inked a significant deal to supply complete propulsion systems for a series of eight cargo vessels commissioned by Norwegian shipping company Wilson ASA. The vessels are slated to be built at Udupi Cochin Shipyard Ltd. in India and will be based on a design from renowned Dutch company Conoship International. This collaboration marks a key milestone in combining Norwegian maritime technology, European ship design, and Asian shipbuilding expertise.

The scope of Finnøy’s delivery includes a state-of-the-art “twin in – single out” 2G42-60F gearbox system, P78 controllable pitch propeller systems featuring a 3.6-meter nozzle, and the fifth generation of their remote control system. The equipment is set to be dispatched over a three-year timeline spanning from 2025 to 2027. This contract signifies a pivotal and strategically significant export agreement for Finnøy, showcasing the company’s reputation as a premier provider of dependable and resilient propulsion solutions in the global market.

Moreover, Norwegian Electric Systems has been appointed as the system integrator for the vessels, further solidifying the project’s value chain with Norwegian technology and expertise at its core. This holistic solution is geared towards enhancing energy efficiency, minimizing maintenance requirements, and ensuring compliance with future environmental standards.

Finnøy Gear & Propeller is scheduled to exhibit at Nor-Shipping 2025, occupying stand E04-14, where key company representatives including CEO Nils Erling Finnøy, Sales Manager Arne Kristian Nogva, and Marketing Manager Norunn Finnøy will be on hand to engage with customers, partners, and stakeholders. They will showcase the company’s cutting-edge solutions, discuss ongoing and upcoming projects, and provide insights into the latest advancements in maritime propulsion technology.
