Fincantieri and TUI Cruises Launch “Mein Schiff Flow”

Fincantieri and TUI Cruises recently celebrated the launch of “Mein Schiff Flow” at the Monfalcone shipyard. This vessel is the second of two next-generation InTUItion class cruise ships, designed for dual-fuel operation using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Marine Gas Oil (MGO). Scheduled to enter service in mid-2026, “Mein Schiff Flow” is a sister ship to “Mein Schiff Relax,” which was delivered in February.

With a gross tonnage of approximately 160,000, “Mein Schiff Flow” is based on a first-in-class project developed by Fincantieri to enhance modernity and sustainability. TUI Cruises, known for having one of the most advanced fleets ecologically, is furthering its commitment to environmental responsibility with this new ship. The vessel’s design focuses on energy efficiency to reduce operational consumption and minimize environmental impact in compliance with the latest regulations. It is capable of utilizing LNG and is future-proof with the ability to use low-emission fuels like bio- or e-LNG.

“Mein Schiff Flow” will be equipped with catalytic converters meeting Euro 6 standards, a steam turbine that utilizes residual heat from the diesel generators, and an electrical shore-power connection. These features will ensure almost emission-free operations while in port, accounting for about 40% of the ship’s operating time. Additionally, the vessel will have an innovative waste treatment system that can transform organic materials into recyclable components through a thermal process.

This new cruise ship represents a significant step forward in the industry’s efforts to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability. Fincantieri and TUI Cruises are setting a high standard for eco-friendly cruise ships with the launch of “Mein Schiff Flow,” showcasing the possibilities for combining luxury travel with environmental responsibility.
