Union Maritime Launches SeaBreeze Program to Accelerate Adoption of Wind-Assisted Propulsion Systems

UK shipowner Union Maritime has introduced a groundbreaking lease financing program called SeaBreeze, aimed at speeding up the implementation of wind-assisted propulsion systems in the maritime industry.

The SeaBreeze initiative offers 100% financing, making sustainable technologies more attainable for shipowners looking to align with evolving emissions regulations.

Through this program, Union Maritime will collaborate with manufacturers of wind-assisted propulsion systems to provide customized lease financing solutions for the procurement and integration of wind propulsion technologies.

The company anticipates launching SeaBreeze in late 2025, addressing the issue of limited traditional bank financing available for wind technology equipment.

Guy Blunden, head of transactions and strategy at Union Maritime, stated, “There is a clear market demand for innovative financing solutions, and we are well positioned to bridge that gap. We are excited to reveal more details as the project unfolds.”
