HydroSurv Delivers REAV-47 Uncrewed Surface Vessel to Geodetic Offshore Services Limited

Uncrewed surface vessel (USV) technology specialist HydroSurv has announced the sale of its REAV-47 USV to Geodetic Offshore Services Limited (GOSL) for hydrographic and geophysical survey operations in Nigeria.

This marks HydroSurv’s first delivery to Nigeria, where GOSL is a prominent provider of offshore survey services for the oil and gas sector.

The REAV-47 is a battery-hybrid vessel that will be equipped with an advanced payload including a Ping DSP 3DSS-IDX interferometric sonar and Innomar’s Compact Parametric Sub-Bottom Profiler. This configuration allows for wide-swath bathymetric mapping and high-resolution sub-bottom imaging, enhancing landfall survey capabilities for offshore infrastructure projects.

In addition to the REAV-47, GOSL has also acquired a REAV-28 Inland Multi-Purpose USV. This smaller, battery-electric vessel complements the REAV-47 by providing flexibility and efficiency in survey operations across different environments.

Managing Director of GOSL Nigeria Limited, Emanuel Ekpeyong, expressed pride in the partnership with HydroSurv and highlighted the benefits of using USVs for hydrographic surveys, citing reduced human and carbon footprints, efficient seabed mapping, and cost-effectiveness.

GOSL will utilize the multipurpose REAV-47 as both a standalone survey system and a mothership force-multiplier, capable of sustaining operations for up to 72 hours with its battery-hybrid system.

HydroSurv CEO David Hull emphasized the versatility of the REAV-47, tailored for commercial-duty mid-size USV applications. He looks forward to collaborating with GOSL’s experienced survey team to maximize the platform’s capabilities in various operational scenarios.
