Halliburton Secures Multi-Year Deal with Repsol Resources UK in the North Sea

U.S.-headquartered oilfield services player Halliburton has recently announced a significant multi-year agreement with Repsol Resources UK, a subsidiary of Spain’s Repsol, to provide comprehensive support for the operator’s well lifecycle activities in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Under this partnership, Halliburton will offer a range of services including subsurface technology, drilling, completion, and digital solutions for new developments. The collaboration aims to optimize the remaining potential of the UK North Sea and enhance operational efficiencies for Repsol Resources UK.

In addition to the core services, Halliburton will introduce a rigless intervention framework to help Repsol optimize well construction, production, and intervention processes, ultimately maximizing plug and abandonment (P&A) operations.

Timothy Horsfall, Vice President of Halliburton Europe, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “This partnership signifies a strategic milestone for both Halliburton and Repsol Resources UK. By focusing on safe and reliable P&A operations, we are committed to unlocking the full potential of the UK North Sea.”

As part of their joint efforts to drive innovation and economic growth, Halliburton’s services will also support Repsol Resources UK’s decommissioning activities in the region. Repsol Resources UK currently holds interests in 43 fields, operating 36 of them on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) with 11 offshore installations and two onshore terminals.

Recently, Repsol Resources UK entered into a partnership with New European Offshore (NEO Energy) to merge their North Sea operations and establish NEO NEXT Energy, a new entity that will be 55% owned by NEO and 45% by Repsol UK.

The agreement with Halliburton further solidifies Repsol Resources UK’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in the North Sea region. With a focus on maximizing resources and driving industry standards, the collaboration sets a new benchmark for integrated well lifecycle management in the oil and gas sector.
