Fugro Expands Geotechnical Testing Capabilities in Indonesia

Fugro Opens New Geotechnical Testing Laboratory in Jakarta, Indonesia

Fugro, a leading provider of geotechnical and geohazard insights for energy and infrastructure projects, has announced the opening of a new geotechnical testing laboratory in Jakarta, Indonesia. This state-of-the-art facility will enhance Fugro’s regional capabilities and ensure quicker delivery of vital Geo-data.

Increased Capacity and Faster Turnaround Times

The new laboratory will increase Fugro’s lab capacity in the Asia Pacific region by 20% and cut testing turnaround times by 30%. Spanning 550 m2 with over 30 testing stations, the facility will employ more than 120 Indonesian staff, including 40 geotechnical engineers and technicians.

Accredited Standards and Commitment to Quality

The laboratory is accredited to ASTM and ISO 17892 standards, reaffirming Fugro’s commitment to delivering high-quality Geo-data. Shalu Shajahan, Regional Director, Marine Site Characterisation Asia Pacific, stated, “By having a consistent standard for geotechnical testing, supplemented with our vast global experience, we are committed to providing Geo-data that will contribute to the success of our clients’ projects in the region.”

Regional Expansion and Local Talent Development

With the addition of the Jakarta laboratory, Fugro now operates four specialist offshore testing facilities in the Asia Pacific region, including labs in Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan. This expansion underscores Fugro’s commitment to local talent development and regional capacity building.

Overall, the new geotechnical testing laboratory in Jakarta, Indonesia, represents Fugro’s dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions for energy and infrastructure projects in the region. The enhanced capabilities and faster turnaround times will enable Fugro to continue delivering high-quality Geo-data that supports the success of its clients’ projects.
