Louis Sola will step down next week as chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) after a seven-year stint at America’s shipping regulator.
Donald Trump, the American president, will nominate a new chairman and commissioner to the FMC in due course, something that will require Senate approval.
“Throughout my tenure, I engaged with senior partners across the US government to elevate the vital connection between maritime infrastructure, national security, and global trade,” Sola said in parting remarks, adding that he saw public service as a privilege.
