Dutch Surveyor Fugro Wins Contract for Deepwater Gas Project in Eastern Mediterranean

Dutch surveyor Fugro has recently secured a contract to conduct a comprehensive site characterisation programme for a deepwater gas project in the Eastern Mediterranean. This project is being operated by Italian major Eni and is situated off the coast of Cyprus. The geo-data acquisition is set to commence in the third quarter of 2025.

Cyprus has ambitious plans to establish itself as a regional gas-producing and exporting country, aiming to contribute to enhanced energy security and affordability for Europe. The collaboration with Fugro signifies a significant step towards achieving these goals.

The project will leverage Fugro’s extensive offshore and deepwater geophysical and geotechnical expertise, along with the company’s environmental services. This partnership highlights Fugro’s commitment to supporting sustainable energy initiatives and facilitating the development of critical energy infrastructure.
