Thailand’s PTT Signs Multi-Year LNG Agreement with Centrica Energy

Thailand’s state-owned oil and gas company, PTT, has recently inked a heads of agreement (HoA) with the U.K.-based energy company, Centrica Energy, for a long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This deal marks a significant milestone in the energy sector, with PTT set to deliver LNG to Centrica for a period of ten years on a delivered ex-ship basis across various destinations in Asia, with deliveries expected to commence in 2028.

Centrica Energy views this agreement as a crucial step in expanding its LNG portfolio and gaining access to diverse markets in Asia. The deal also strengthens the relationship between Centrica and PTT, highlighting the importance of strategic partnerships in the energy industry.

Chris O’Shea, Chief Executive Officer of Centrica, expressed his pride in partnering with PTT, emphasizing the role of LNG in the company’s long-term strategy and its commitment to the energy transition. He stated, “We are proud to partner with PTT. This agreement supports our global LNG ambitions and is a testament to the strong partnerships Centrica has built in Asia. LNG is a key part of Centrica’s long-term strategy and will continue to play a pivotal role in enabling the energy transition.”

Arturo Gallego, Head of LNG at Centrica Energy, lauded the agreement as a landmark moment in the company’s quest to double the size of its LNG business. For PTT, this deal signifies a significant step towards its international growth ambitions, being its first long-term LNG sales contract outside of Thailand.

In addition to its agreement with Centrica, PTT also recently signed a cooperation deal with Glenfarne Alaska LNG for potential collaboration on the Alaska LNG project. On the other hand, Centrica sealed a deal with Equinor to purchase 55 TWh of natural gas per year, catering to nearly 10% of total annual UK gas demand, starting from October 2025.
