Eco Wave Power and AltaSea to Launch First U.S. Wave Energy Pilot Project

Exciting news in the world of renewable energy as Eco Wave Power and AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles have officially agreed to launch the first-ever onshore U.S. wave energy pilot project in September.

The highly anticipated launch event is set to take place on September 9, 2025, at AltaSea, marking a significant milestone in renewable energy innovation for the United States.

Utilizing innovative floaters attached to existing marine infrastructure, Eco Wave Power’s cutting-edge technology converts wave motion into clean electricity through land-based conversion units. This offers a scalable and sustainable renewable energy solution specifically designed for coastal cities.

Supported by Shell’s Marine Renewable Program and manufactured locally by All-Ways Metal, this groundbreaking project showcases the collaboration between industry leaders to drive forward the transition towards cleaner energy sources.

“AltaSea was established with the mission to accelerate ocean-based solutions to combat climate change, and the partnership with Eco Wave Power exemplifies this commitment in action. This project not only represents a significant milestone for the U.S., but also sets a precedent for ports worldwide to transition into clean energy hubs. We are honored to host this historic installation at AltaSea,” stated Terry Tamminen, CEO of AltaSea.
