Dutch Contractor Fugro Secures Multi-Year Contracts with Petrobras in Brazil

Dutch contractor Fugro has recently been awarded four multi-year tenders by Petrobras for the inspection and monitoring of subsea infrastructure in Brazil. The contracts, valued at approximately $340 million, are set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will run for four years with the possibility of one-year extensions.

The scope of work will be carried out using four dedicated vessels, with two operated directly by Fugro and two by strategic partners. All vessels will be equipped with Fugro’s advanced remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

Of the four contracts, three are renewals to replace existing agreements that are expiring soon, with improved terms and conditions. The fourth contract is a new addition to Fugro’s portfolio.

Fugro plans to enhance its remote operations capabilities through these contracts, including the remote piloting of ROVs. This innovative approach was first implemented successfully in Brazil in 2023 from the RSV Fugro Aquarius, in collaboration with Petrobras. By shifting operations from the field to office environments, efficiency is increased, and real-time data analysis enables faster decision-making.

Céline Gerson, Fugro’s director in the Americas and president of Fugro USA, expressed the company’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the region. She stated, “These new contracts from Petrobras demonstrate the deep value of our long-standing partnership in Brazil’s offshore energy sector. Being selected for this crucial work, which will extend through the decade, fuels our continued drive for innovation and unwavering commitment to excellence as we work collaboratively to ensure a responsible and resilient energy future in the region.”
