Iberdrola Awards Semco Maritime Offshore Service Contracts for Baltic Hub

Iberdrola has recently announced the awarding of two three-year offshore service contracts to Semco Maritime. These contracts include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment at two offshore substations in the Baltic Hub.

The Baltic Hub consists of two prominent offshore wind farms, namely the 350 MW Wikinger and the 476 MW Baltic Eagle. These wind farms are located near the island of Rügen in the German exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the Baltic Sea.

By combining the balance of plant service works for both offshore substations into one project, efficiencies and optimizations can be achieved through centralized project management. Additionally, a 24/7 on-call duty of experienced technicians will be in place to reduce operational risks and costs for Iberdrola’s Wikinger and Baltic Eagle sites.

The project ramp-up phase has already commenced to ensure a smooth transition from the current Baltic Eagle interim contract. Lessons learned from previous projects executed at Wikinger will also be integrated into the maintenance plans.

Mads S. Iversholt, Senior Director of Offshore Wind Service at Semco Maritime, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded collaboration with Iberdrola in the Baltic Sea region. He highlighted Semco Maritime’s commitment to providing flexible and tailored services to meet the individual business needs of their partners.

With these new service contracts, Semco Maritime continues to strengthen its presence in the offshore wind sector, offering comprehensive maintenance solutions to support the operational efficiency and reliability of offshore substations in the Baltic Hub.
