Lloyd’s Register Secures In-Service Submarine Support Contract with UK Ministry of Defence
Lloyd’s Register (LR) has reached a significant milestone in its naval assurance services by securing a 12-month in-service submarine support contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) through the Aurora Framework.
As part of this new contract, LR will deploy experienced surveyors to His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde to offer expert support to the Royal Navy’s submarines. Additionally, LR will provide technical consultancy from MOD Abbey Wood, delivering strategic advice to enhance the operational efficiency of the submarines. This dual-location approach ensures that LR can provide responsive on-the-ground services combined with in-depth technical expertise.
The collaboration between LR and the MOD that led to this contract has been years in the making. This partnership solidifies LR’s presence in the in-service submarine domain, ultimately strengthening the Royal Navy’s capability to maintain fleet readiness and safety. By leveraging LR’s expertise, the Royal Navy can benefit from a new level of rigor in maintaining and operating its submarines outside of traditional class rules.
This contract marks a significant step forward in LR’s commitment to supporting naval operations and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of submarine fleets. The partnership with the MOD demonstrates LR’s dedication to providing top-notch assurance services in the maritime sector.
