The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) Partners with Terma to Enhance Maritime Security

Terma, a leading surveillance radar technology specialist, has recently inked a significant agreement with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to supply 32 state-of-the-art coastal surveillance radars. This collaboration aims to bolster Denmark’s maritime security capabilities and ensure continuous monitoring of its waters.

The deployment of these new radar systems will replace the existing infrastructure, providing enhanced maritime domain awareness and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. The delivery of the radars is scheduled to be completed by 2026, with installations taking place throughout 2025 and 2026.

By upgrading its radar technology, Denmark will be better equipped to track maritime traffic, respond to potential threats against critical infrastructure, and protect its marine environment. Additionally, these systems will play a crucial role in supporting the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) by facilitating the safe passage of ships through major Danish straits.

Aside from the hardware upgrade, the project includes the implementation of a modern integration platform that utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to consolidate data from all radar sites. This advanced capability will enhance real-time situational awareness and enable decision-makers to access intelligently processed information for more effective operations.

Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, CEO of Terma, expressed the company’s dedication to supporting Denmark’s security and sovereignty through this partnership. With extensive experience in advanced coastal surveillance solutions, Terma is proud to contribute to national resilience and maritime domain protection.

The installation of the new radar systems will primarily take place on existing towers, ensuring a smooth transition without compromising operational capacity. The entire coastal surveillance system is projected to be fully operational by the end of 2026, further fortifying Denmark’s maritime security posture.
