Shell and Technip Energies Collaborate on Carbon Capture Solution

Shell Catalysts & Technologies, a subsidiary of UK-headquartered energy giant Shell, has partnered with France’s engineering company Technip Energies to develop a cutting-edge post-combustion amine-based carbon capture solution. This collaboration aims to elevate the industrial sector’s efforts towards decarbonization.

The global alliance agreement between the two companies will see them exclusively working together to deliver a post-combustion amine-based carbon capture solution using Shell’s CANSOLV CO2 Capture System. By combining Shell’s technology expertise with Technip Energies’ integration and project delivery excellence, the collaboration seeks to provide a comprehensive and effective solution.

The joint efforts of Shell and Technip Energies are expected to result in an enhanced post-combustion carbon capture solution that adds maximum value to customers. The firms believe that this model is crucial in making carbon capture more viable, scalable, and accessible for industrial sectors, ultimately aiding customers in their decarbonization efforts.

This alliance is designed to integrate expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to operational support. By fostering committed collaboration and working closely with clients, Shell and Technip Energies aim to ensure seamless execution and continuous performance optimization.

The collaboration between Shell and Technip Energies builds on a solid foundation of proven performance, with several operating CANSOLV facilities and multiple CANSOLV-based projects reaching final investment decisions in recent years. One notable project is the Net Zero Teesside Power, slated to become the world’s first gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage.
