Australian Wave Energy Developer WaveX Joins Henderson Alliance
Australian wave energy developer WaveX has recently become a corporate member of the Henderson Alliance, a network based in Western Australia that supports local manufacturing and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the energy and defence sectors.
WaveX is focused on developing wave energy systems for utility-scale energy, defence, and remote power markets. The company utilizes patented technology that converts vertical deep-ocean motion into power, offering innovative solutions for sustainable energy production.
As part of its commitment to local manufacturing, WaveX has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Henderson-based fabricator for the production of its large-scale prototype. The prototype is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025, showcasing the company’s dedication to advancing renewable energy technologies.
“We are delighted to join the Henderson Alliance as a Corporate Member to strengthen industry ties and facilitate a successful energy transition,” said Simon Renwick, Founder and Managing Director of WaveX. This collaboration underscores WaveX’s commitment to fostering collaboration within the energy and defence sectors.
The Henderson Alliance, known for supporting companies that contribute to energy transition efforts and develop sovereign capabilities in advanced manufacturing, welcomes WaveX as a valuable addition to its network. Through this partnership, both organizations aim to drive innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
In a strategic move to accelerate the development of wave energy technologies, WaveX has partnered with London-headquartered firm Arup. This collaboration aims to enhance the D-Spar wave-powered generator technology, with the signing of two MoUs to advance wave energy projects and optimize the D-Spar system for increased efficiency and performance.
