MENCK Secures Contract for Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm Installation

MENCK, a leading brand in marine energy and infrastructure services under Acteon, has recently announced the acquisition of a contract to supply advanced pile-driving equipment and operational services for the installation of the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm.

Acteon will be providing its state-of-the-art MENCK MHU4400S hydraulic hammer for the project, along with a specialized pile sleeve and anvil designed to accommodate monopiles of up to 11 meters in diameter.

Advanced Technology for Offshore Wind Installations

The MENCK MHU4400S submersible hydraulic hammer is a high-performance tool specifically engineered to drive both large monopiles and smaller-diameter piles, meeting the rigorous demands of today’s large-scale offshore wind installations.

Situated in the U.K. sector of the North Sea, the Hornsea 3 project is positioned approximately 160 km off the Yorkshire coast and 120 km off the Norfolk coast.

Significance of Hornsea 3 Project

Hornsea 3 stands as a flagship project in the United Kingdom’s transition towards energy security and the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. As part of the esteemed Hornsea zone, this development will contribute 2.9 GW of renewable energy capacity, sufficient to power over three million homes in the U.K. on an annual basis.

“We are honored to be a part of the Hornsea 3 project with our reliable technology. This development marks a significant milestone for the U.K.’s energy security and aligns perfectly with the government’s ambitious climate and clean-energy objectives. MENCK’s MHU-series hydraulic hammers are meticulously designed to ensure maximum efficiency in the most challenging offshore environments,” stated Tim Erdmann, Head of Projects at MENCK.
