Noble Corporation and Kongsberg Maritime Collaborate to Drive Offshore Innovation

Noble Corporation, a U.S.-based offshore drilling giant, has partnered with Kongsberg Maritime, a leading marine technology company from Norway, to spearhead the development of advanced marine technologies in the offshore drilling sector.

The two companies have cemented their collaboration through the signing of a strategic alliance agreement, marking a significant milestone in the joint efforts to innovate and revolutionize marine technologies for offshore drilling operations.

With a shared vision of enhancing operational efficiency, risk management, and sustainability in the offshore drilling industry, the partnership aims to co-create and commercialize cutting-edge solutions that will drive progress and propel the sector forward.

Jouni Raatikainen, Executive Vice President Global Customer Support at Kongsberg Maritime, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: “This agreement with Noble underscores our commitment to being a trusted energy transition partner.”

“By collaborating with forward-thinking companies like Noble, we can develop technologies that not only boost performance and safety but also align with the industry’s sustainability objectives. Noble’s innovative mindset and willingness to embrace change make them an ideal partner for this bold journey.”

The inaugural pilot project under the Noble-Kongsberg Maritime agreement is set to kick off later this year on the Noble Sam Croft drillship, paving the way for a series of joint development initiatives.

By leveraging Kongsberg Maritime’s marine technology expertise and Noble’s extensive operational know-how and modern fleet of 21 floating rigs, the collaboration is poised to drive innovation and deliver tailored solutions that cater to the needs of offshore operators.

This collaboration follows closely on the heels of Kongsberg Maritime’s introduction of a modular wind propulsion platform for various vessel types, demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainable solutions across the maritime industry.

Noble Corporation has been making waves with recent achievements, including a significant oil and gas discovery in the Baltic Sea, hailed as one of Europe’s largest conventional oil finds in the past decade.
