The Allseas-Boskalis Consortium Secures Major Contract for Offshore Gas Pipeline in Taiwan

The partnership between Allseas and Boskalis has recently clinched a significant contract from CPC Corporation Taiwan for the construction of the second offshore gas pipeline from Yongan to Tongxiao (YT2) in Taiwan.

This contract entails the design, construction, installation, and pre-commissioning of a new 36-inch offshore natural gas pipeline, spanning approximately 232 kilometers alongside the existing YT1 pipeline. The pipeline will link the Yongan LNG terminal in the Southwest to the Tongxiao transfer station in the Northwest.

The scope of work includes trenching, pipeline installation with 34 crossings over existing and future infrastructure, backfilling, and two landfalls to complete the project seamlessly.

Allseas, within the consortium, will lead the pipeline installation and pre-commissioning efforts, which will involve the pre-lay installation of concrete mattresses. The company plans to utilize its cutting-edge pipelay vessels for these operations.

On the other hand, Boskalis will oversee the landfalls, microtunnelling activities, nearshore and offshore trenching, backfilling, and installation of rocks for the 34 pipeline crossings. Boskalis will deploy a range of specialized vessels including hopper dredgers, a backhoe dredger, and a subsea rock installation vessel for the execution of these tasks.

The total contract value for this significant energy project, aimed at enhancing energy transition and bolstering gas supply capacity in Taiwan, amounts to approximately $1.4 billion (€1.2 billion).

Project activities are slated to commence in 2026, with an expected completion date in 2028, marking a crucial milestone in Taiwan’s energy infrastructure development.
