Nokia Deploys Subsea Optical Solution for Surge in Indonesia

Nokia has recently announced a significant partnership with PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (Surge), a leading digital infrastructure provider in Indonesia. Surge has deployed Nokia’s cutting-edge subsea optical solution to establish a vital connection between Jakarta and Singapore. This strategic move aims to enhance regional data center interconnectivity and support Surge’s overarching goal of expanding affordable broadband access to underserved communities across Indonesia.

The implementation of this new high-capacity subsea network is an integral part of Surge’s extensive infrastructure expansion initiative, which aims to provide fiber-based broadband services to over 40 million households. By leveraging Nokia’s advanced technology, Surge is poised to drive its affordable internet initiatives and deliver reliable connectivity to communities in need.

Powered by Nokia’s 1830 PSS, the network boasts an impressive initial capacity of 20.8 terabits. This capability enables Surge to offer ultra-high-speed services of up to 800GE to Tier-1 and Tier-2 enterprise customers. Additionally, Nokia’s subsea solution provides Surge with scalable, space-efficient, and power-efficient transmission capabilities, thereby supporting Surge’s growth plans while ensuring operational efficiency.

This collaboration between Nokia and Surge represents a significant milestone in the digital infrastructure landscape of Indonesia. By leveraging state-of-the-art technology and innovative solutions, Surge is well-positioned to drive digital transformation and bridge the connectivity gap in the region. With Nokia’s subsea optical solution in place, Surge is poised to revolutionize broadband access and empower communities across Indonesia.
